Boyce Park Outdoor Boulders are located in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The set of six self-standing outdoor climbing walls are placed in a public space – a free-access park – that offers multiple facilities for active entertainment and sport along with the bouldering are, such as a skate park, pump track and more. Developed by Allegheny County and built by Walltopia, it brings gym-quality climbing walls to a free public space. The outdoor bouldering park promotes accessibility, outdoor recreation, and social engagement. The project sets a model for other cities and towns to integrate climbing into public parks, fostering healthier and more connected communities.
The Walltopia outdoor boulders are made with impregnated outdoor-purposed plywood, hot-dip galvanized structure, stainless steel and hot-dip galvanized fasteners. Designated roofs are placed on each boulder to protect the panels, holds and climbers from the weather impact.
