The outdoor climbing tower at Allgäu Kaserne in Füssen, Germany brings together climbing wall design, architecture, and complex engineering in one unique project.

The military training facility combines a GFRP climbing panels with an urban training climbing wall characterized by a bold industrial aesthetic. Around 120 linear meters of stainless-steel tubes, ranging from 160 mm to an impressive 800 mm in diameter, create an unconventional training environment and give the structure its unmistakable visual identity.

A freestanding steel lattice tower forms another major element of the project. Together with the urban climbing wall, it defines the architecture of the facility and turns the climbing infrastructure itself into a striking structural feature.

Beyond its distinctive appearance, every element was developed with functionality, durability, and safety in mind. Walltopia’s involvement covered the project from planning and structural development through manufacturing and final installation, allowing the different components to be engineered as one integrated solution. The project was led by Christoph Bucher, Walltopia’s local representative for the DACH region, providing the client with dedicated local expertise and coordination throughout the project.
