National Sports Council, Falkland Islands – First Walltopia Build in One of the World’s Most Remote Locations
We completed our first project in the Falkland Islands, delivering a custom-built rope climbing wall for the National Sports Council in Stanley. This wall offers lead climbing, top rope climbing, and auto belays placement, bringing a new dimension of sport and adventure to a small but active island community. With 211 sqm of climbing surface, the design combines natural wood panels with unsteppable coating and off-white solid color accents, creating a clean, warm aesthetic suited for a multi-sport facility.
Despite its remote South Atlantic location — known for its rugged landscapes and population of more penguins than people — the Falkland Islands now join the global map of climbing destinations with a Walltopia climbing wall.
The wall is fully outfitted with our standard rope climbing hardware, including:
- Walltopia Rope Protection Strips – the thinnest, most elegant solution for safe rope running on panel edges
- Walltopia U-bolts – TUV-certified, rounded, and impact-optimized for maximum safety and durability
- Walltopia T-nuts – spanning the full thickness of the plywood panel for superior thread engagement and reduced hold spinning
- Walltopia Top Anchors – lead and top-rope belay stations that keep carabiners and ropes away from the wall face
The flooring solution is Climbmat RM60 modular safety mats, offering excellent impact protection and easy removal for flexible space use.
