Walltopia delivered a compact outdoor bouldering wall for Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral Garden, a public park in Beja, Portugal. The project introduces climbing into an urban green space, offering residents and visitors a new opportunity for physical activity, recreation, and outdoor play.
The installation features a self-standing bouldering structure with outdoor-grade impregnated plywood panels, designed to withstand exposure to the elements. The climbing area is equipped with Climbmat modular safety mats, providing a practical safety flooring solution for the outdoor environment with vinyl cover.
With its compact footprint and accessible setting, the bouldering wall adds a new recreational activity to the park without requiring a dedicated climbing facility. It encourages movement, coordination, and problem-solving while introducing more people to climbing in a casual, welcoming environment.
The project demonstrates how even a small-scale municipal investment in active recreation can enrich public spaces, promote healthy lifestyles, and create new opportunities for communities to engage with climbing.
